about me

written 6/18/2013 my name is jaime (yes i spelled that right).  i am a 33 year old female living in west chester, pa.  I work full time as an office manager for a high end pool company, my hours are 8 til 4 monday through friday.  I am married and have a 13 year old step son (his mom has main custody) but we see him every weekend.
this blog is about me trying to lose weight, ive always been a larger than average kid, and then a larger than average adult.
ive tried weight watchers, the curves diet, south beach and just plain old counting calories. somehow in 2007 i got down to my lowest weight ever (174 lbs).  in 2007 i was finishing up my bachelors degree at night and going to school 3-4 times a week and sometimes on a saturday to get this degree finished. not to mention that i worked full time (different job, i got laid off in 2009).  i guess i didnt have time to mess around and eat.  i was doing WW back then, attending the meetings saturday mornings when i wasnt in school.
once i graduated from college i was only working, you think i would be able to keep up with the weight loss, but i stopped going to WW once i calculated how much it was costing me ($14 a week back then).  and i started partying, now when you think of a 27 year old partying you think booze, drugs, whatever, but no my definition of partying is the same as a 9 year olds. ice cream, soda, hoagies.  so i gained the weight back, then when i got laid off in 2009 i said F it and ate whatever i wanted to fill the void in my life (i had worked there for 10 years and got laid off due to not needing my department anymore).  so i found myself sitting just below 220 lbs. and starting over. this time i was engaged and getting married-i didnt want to buy a wedding dress in a size 20 or larger, my wedding dress size was an 18W, and it was too big for me on my wedding day.
so back on the wagon, counting calories had worked for me, so back to doing that.  and i spent most of my unemployeed time job searching or over at my cousins house wedding planning.
eventually i went back to work, i got a temp job and got myself down to 198 before i got married.
I just restarted weight watchers (online) on June 14, 2013. i also found a wonderful website called dietbet.com.  you bet money with a group of people stating that you will lose 4% of your weight in 4 weeks.  the winners split the pot.  im also in a beta group for their 6 month program (dietbet 10) where you bet to lose 10% of your weight over 6 months.
if you have any questions feel free to ask.

  1. how do you like the WW points plus program as compared to the old points program?

i love your "definition of partying", and I completely understand it too.

    1. i really like the whole veggies and fruit are zero points (even though for the 2 meetings i went to in person before i opted for the online thing, the lady at the front desk said no more than 2 servings of fruit and 3 servings of free fruits and veggies per day, you can eat more you just have to count points for them). but overall i think its generally the same idea, oh and before you used to be able to guess how many points were in something based on calories, but not anymore.
